NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Coast Guard Academy women's swimming & diving hosted a tri-meet this afternoon with Roger Williams University and Kean University. The Bears defeated RWU, 202-59, and tied with Kean at 130.5.
Coast Guard took first place in five events, all individual. Sophomore
Zoe Suhajda swam an 11:06.67 in the 100yd freestyle race; first-year
Mikayla Jolley swam a 1:59.97 in the 200yd freestyle; first-year
Colleen Read recorded a 2:15.98 in the 200yd butterfly; sophomore
Madelyn Paxton swam a 2:11.22 in the 200yd backstroke; and senior
Tailyn Schaufelberger recorded a 4:42.32 in the 400yd individual medley.
Also of note in the competition was Kean's
Braelyn Wilson, who broke the Coast Guard pool record in the 100yd breaststroke by swimming a 57.40.
The Bears are back in action again next Saturday, travelling to Wellesley College for a tri-meet with the Blue and Connecticut College at noon.
