WELLESLEY, Mass. - The Coast Guard Academy women's swim & dive team had an excellent showing in their tri-meet at Wellesley College today, defeating the hosting Blue 189-99 and fellow visitors Connecticut College 168-107. The Bears improve to 8-0-1 this season with the wins; Conn College starts their at 1-1 after defeating Wellesley 179-109 in the meet; and the Blue fall to 1-4.
In total, the Bears won ten of the day's 16 events. Senior
Grace Keogh had three wins, swimming a 1:58.97 in the 200-yard freestyle, a 54.58 in the 100-yard freestyle, and a 59.09 in the 100-yard butterfly. Sophomore
Zoe Suhajda won the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:09.52. Freshman
Samantha Halvorson finished first in the 50-yard freestyle by clocking a 24.56.
Fellow freshman
Colleen Read won the 200-yard backstroke with a 2:07.71. Senior captain
Ellie Hiestand won the 200-yard breaststroke, outpacing her competition with a 2:26.40. Sophomores
Liliana Feyk and
Madelyn Paxton also topped their events, with Feyk swimming a 5:25.23 to win the 500-yard freestyle and Paxton swimming a 2:10.94 in the 200-yard individual medley. Finally, Coast Guard won the 200-yard freestyle relay thanks to a strong performance by the team of Hiestand, sophomore

Mikayla Jolley, and Halvorson.
The Bears are back at it next Friday, November 23rd, in a dual meet at NEWMAC rivals Springfield College.
