WORCESTER, Mass. –
The Coast Guard Bears women's swim team started their season off by defeating each of their four opponents(WPI, Brandeis, Babson, and Smith) in their opening weekend quad meet.
CGA took home first place in two relay events, the 500 Freestyle and 400 Freestyle. The 500 meter freestyle team of
Tailyn Schaufelberger,
Megan Doubrava,
Zoe Suhajda, and
Liliana Feyk won their event with a time of 5:28.61. The victorious 400 meter freestyle team of
Grace Keogh,
Ellie Hiestand,
Samantha Halvorson, and
Mikayla Jolley won with a time of 3:40.80.
Individually, six different Coast Guard swimmers won their events.
Zoe Suhajda(1000 Freestyle),
Madelyn Paxton(100 Backstroke and 100 IM),
Tailyn Schaufelberger(100 Breaststroke),
Ellie Hiestand(200 Breaststroke), and
Samantha Halvorson(50 Yard Free) each swam their way to first place finishes.
The Bears also had an outstanding showing of top five finishers in the evening.
Jaida Lippy finished 3rd in the 1000 freestyle.

After their impressive showing this weekend, Coast Guard will host Wheaton College for their first home meet of the year on Friday November 8th at 5:00 PM.
