NORTON, Mass. - Volleyball was on the road facing Wheaton, taking down the Lyons in four sets and getting its first conference win of the season.
Set one was all Coast Guard as the Bears won with a final of 25-11. The Lyons barely had a chance with the Bears quickly going up by 10 points and holding a double-digit lead for much of the set.
From then on, however, things were much closer. CGA won the second set, 26-24. Wheaton forced a fourth set after taking the third with a final of 25-20. It was a battle until the the very end with what would be the final set ending at 29-27 in favor of Coast Guard.Â
CGA now improves to 11-4 overall and 1-2 in conference.
Shannon Shaw led the Bears in kills with 15 followed by
Sophia Galdamez with 14.
Allie Wildsmith had six blocks on the night with
Elizabeth Atkinson and Galdamez getting four a piece.
Mackenzie Murnane had a season high 35 assists for the Bears.Â
Coast Guard will continue conference play, hosting WPI on September 30th at 1 PM.Â
