NEW LONDON, Conn. - Women's Volleyball hosted Johnson & Wales in a Saturday matchup, taking down the Wildcats and extending their win streak to seven straight.
The Bears took control from the first set, not allowing the Wildcats to get over 10 points, winning set one, 25-10. Despite Johnson and Wales striking first, Coast Guard found its rhythm to get 10 kills in the first.
Set two was a closer battle, CGA taking the win 25-17. The Bears had another 10 kills in the second.
The closeout set was another blowout as CGA took the win, 25-11. With another 10 kills and only one error, the Bears clinched the match in three sets.
Allie Wildsmith led the Bears in kills with eight, followed my
Sophia Galdamez with seven and
Sarah Somer with six.
Julia Gallinger had four aces with
Carmen Zipf and
Kaela France getting two a piece.
Maeve Duffin recorded 24 assists on the day. France had 13 digs with Zipf and
Laila Baameur getting six each.
Coast Guard will start conference play on September 19th hosting MIT at 6 PM.
