NEW LONDON, Conn. - Coast Guard Men's Soccer hosted The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in their first home game of the season, shutting out the Corsairs.
In the first 15 minutes, CGA's
Andres Villasana assisted by
Aki Freeman scored the first point of the game. Less than five minutes later, Freeman assisted by
Brendan Ahl gave the Bears a 2-0 lead on the Corsairs.
Then, at 24:00 into the first half, a solo goal from
Charles Fish would give CGA a three point lead over UMass.
Right before the half at 41:38, Brennen King added another to the Bears lead.
The second half saw two more goals by CGA. The first came in the 56th minute from Villasana, assisted by Freeman. The final goal of the night was by
Carson Trager, assisted by
Cole Miller.
The Bears had a total of 10 shots on the night and one impressive save by
John Putnam.
Coast Guard will begin conference play this weekend, hosting MIT at 12 PM on Saturday.
