Box Score 2 NEW LONDON, Conn. –- Today, Coast Guard Softball wrapped up New England Women and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play splitting the day with MIT.
MIT got on the board first and were up 2-0 on CGA after three innings. Bears answered back adding one in the bottom of the fourth from a Katie Becker double and RBI.
MIT added two more to their lead in the top of the fifth.
Bears came right back at the Engineers in the bottom of the fifth for a score of 3-4, CGA just down one.
In the final inning, CGA's Serna hit a walk-off double to secure a 5-4 Bears win.
Dana Walker pitched well for the Bears and had two strikeouts on the day.
Serna was two for four at the plate with two doubles and three RBIs. Lilia Farlow was two for three with one RBI in game one.
In game two, Bears could not get on the board and would fall to MIT 14-0. CGA could not produce any runs and would fall in the largest deficit of the season.
Isabelle Shroyer had two strikeouts on the mound in three innings pitched and Emma Behel had one.
CGA Softball now sits in third place in NEWMAC standings and will head into playoffs with gametimes to be announced soon.
