Box Score 2 NEW LONDON, Conn. – Today Coast Guard Softball hosted New England Women and Men's Conference (NEWMAC) foe Wellesley, taking game one 10-5, and game two 8-0.
In the first inning, Lillia Farlow got things started for CGA after doubling and batting in two runs.
In the bottom of the third inning, the Bears put up five more runs.
In the top of the fourth, the Blue added four runs to the board, but couldn't touch the Bears lead.
In the bottom of the sixth, Farlow homered to seal the deal for the Bears and secure a 10-5 win.
CGA had nine hits in game one, Izzy Shroyer, Farlow, and Natalie Beck all had multiple hits for the Bears.
Shroyer secured the win for the Bears on the mound having three strikeouts.
In game two, Bears attacked first in the bottom of the second after Maura Murphy doubled and scored two runs.
In the bottom of the third, Selena Serna doubled scoring one and Farlow singled also hitting one in.
Bears led 4-0 to start the fifth inning. Then in the bottom of the fifth, Bears added two more to their lead. Murphy got up and hit a two-run bomb for a CGA walk-off win and 8-0 dub.
Dana Walker had two strikeouts in five innings pitched. Murphy was two for two at the plate and Serna was two for three in game two.
Bears are back in action on April 26th at 3 and 5 PM as they hit the road to play Trinity College.
