Box Score KISSIMEE, Flor. -- Today, the Bears continued action in Florida, beating Marian University, 5-4 and Catholic University, 3-2.
In game one, neither team could get anything going in the first inning, but Marian would get on the scoreboard first, scoring four in the top of the 2nd.
Then, five innings with no score from either side would go by and it seemed as if the Bears time was running out.
However, an RBI from Katie Becker to score Mariah Dewey would start the Bears final rally in the last inning.
A Maura Murphy triple would score three runs and give the Bears the win in the bottom of the seventh.
On the mound, Dana Walker pitched all seven innings and threw 79 strikes in 120 pitches.
This was definitely a team win and showed that the Bears don't back down.
In game two, Catholic got on the board first with a two-run homer from Sarah Spaeth.
The Bears battled back scoring one in the top of the third to make the score 2-1.
CGA pitcher, Isabelle Shroyer held things down on the mound and would not allow the Cardinals to score for the remainder of the game.
In the top of the 4th, Senior Mariah Dewey would hit a two-run bomb and the Bears would take control of the lead.
Both teams would not be able to score for the rest of the game so the Bears would ultimately win, 3-2.
For CGA, Shroyer would pitch all seven innings and with four strikeouts and only five hits.
The Bears are back in action in Florida tomorrow at 9 AM against York (PA) and 2 PM against Husson.
