WORCESTER, Mass. - Coast Guard Women's Volleyball traveled to Worcester today to play in a two game tournament. The Bears fell to Clark in the first game, but came back in game two, beating SUNY Brockport 3-1.
In game one against Clark, Coast Guard started out strong. In set one, the Bears led by as much as 10. They would take the first set 25-17. In set two, the Cougars took the lead 3-0. The Bears would tie it up at 15-15 but would end up falling 24-21. In set three, despite leading by as much as six, the Bears would end up losing set three. In the fourth and final set, Coast Guard could not seem to get the upper hand and would ultimately fall. Clark would take the match 3-1.
As a team, the Bears had seven aces and 15 blocks.
Allie Wildsmith led her team with eight blocks and three aces.
Shannon Shaw led with 15 kills and
Sophia Galdamez had 14.Â
In game two against SUNY Brockport, despite losing the first set, Coast Guard came from behind and won three straight sets; 25-16, 25-16, 25-16.Â
Shaw led the team with 17 kills, Kalea France led with 25 digs, and
Maeve Duffin led 22 assists.Â
This ends regular season play for the Bears. They finished 7-4 in conference play and 19-8 overall. Coast Guard will start post season play Tuesday, November 7th with the time TBA.Â
