WORCESTER, Mass. - The Coast Guard Men's Swimming and Diving Team remain undefeated after successfully beating host Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Babson College, and Brandeis University in a Friday night match up.
The men started the night with a win in the 200 medley relay, and a blistering anchor leg by senior captain Jake Kim who came from behind to win the event. The team of first years Cole Carden, John Kaleta, sophomore Charles Gaines and Kim finished in 1:37.81.
Junior Sean Lyman kept the Bears winning ways going in the 1000 freestyle and a time of 9:57.39. Junior Colin Twiss won three individual events. Winning the 200 free (1:42.40), the 100 free (47.66) and the 500 free (4:47.74). Jake Kim closed out the CGA freestyle individual win streak with 21.68 in the 50 free.
First year Noah Reice won both the 100 breaststroke (58.33) and 100 butterfly (51.78). Fellow first year Blaise Minckler won the 200 breaststroke for the second week in a row in 2:08.74.
The Bears closed the meet out with a win in the 400 freestyle relay, with the team of Reice, Kim, Gaines, and Twiss clocking in at 3:11.26.
The scores of the meets were as follows: CGA 216 Brandeis 63, CGA 190 Babson 103, and CGA 189 WPI 98.
The men will next suit up in back-to-back contests on November 10th against Wheaton College and November 11th at Roger Williams.
