NEW LONDON, Conn. - Men's Basketball hosted Westfield State in game four of the Cadet/Mariner Classic, suffering their first loss of the season with a final score of 86-72.
The Bears came out on fire as
Mitch Shettles drained two threes in the first 40 seconds. He splashed his third of the game just about a minute and a half later. It was back-and-forth for a majority of the first 20 minutes as each team took the lead multiple times.Â
CGA won out in the first as they held a 38-37 lead going into the break.Â
Westfield State got the scoring going in the second half, making Coast Guard play catch up. CGA was playing from behind for the the entire second half and had multiple chances to regain the lead.Â
Luke Farrell brought it back within eight for the Bears with just under six minutes to go in the game. Coast Guard was unable to complete a comeback and suffered its first loss of the season, now standing at 3-1.Â
Shettles led the Bears in scoring with 17, going 5-8 from behind the arc.
Declan Rooney had 16 points and five rebounds. Shettles and
Adryan Herron each grabbed six rebounds.
Coast Guard will be on the road at Mitchell on November 21st at 3:30 PM.
