Bristol, RI - The US Coast Guard Academy Wrestling team made their season debut at the Roger Williams Invite in Bristol, Rhode Island. 

The #9 ranked Bears by the NWCA Coaches Poll brought 17 competitors across eight weight classes, featuring almost exclusively their first-year class. Nine 4/c notched their first college wins. Leading the way for the Bears was Tye Barker, who finished 3rd at 149lbs, going 4-1 on the day. 

Jackson Bauer (125lbs) and Alex Marshall (165lbs) also placed at the event, with Bauer finishing in 5th place, while Marshall rattled off 5 wins, being capped by the 6-match rule in the consolation semi-final. 

Brendan Mattingly finished in the consolation final, also being capped at the 6-match limit after going 5-1 to start the day. 

The Bears are back in action next Saturday, November 18th, 2023 at 10 am EST at the Doug Parker Invitational, hosted by Springfield College.
