BRISTOL, R.I. - The Women's Swimming Team kept the ball rolling on a successful road weekend. After a come from behind win Friday against Wheaton College, the Bears used a balanced line up in a win against Roger Williams University and a final score of 165-97. The women stand at a record of 7-1 for the season.
First year distance specialist Zoe Suhajda continued her steady improvement with a pair of wins in the 1,000 freestyle and 500 freestyle and times of 10:57.01 and 5:21.66. Senior Rylie Brick brought home a pair of breaststroke wins in the 100 (1:08.66) and 200 (2:28.19). Brick was closely trailed in the 100 yard event by teammate junior Tailyn Schaufelberger (1:10.08) and by junior Ellie Hiestand in the 200 in 2:31.94.
The Bears also had a slate of single event winners in first years, Megan Doubrava in the 200 butterfly (2:12.22), Madelyn Paxton in the 200 Individual Medley (2:14.81). Sophomore Masen Karsten chipped in with an off-event win in the 100 backstroke in 1:02.79. Senior captain Tamara Wheater swam to a season best 24.71 and the win in the 50 freestyle.
The 200-freestyle relay team of Karsten, Wheater, Hiestand and junior Grace Keogh swam to the win by over two seconds in 1:40.66.
The Bears will open their home meet season on November 18, and a 12:00 pm start against Brandeis University.
