Box Score BRONX, N.Y. - Bears Football was on the road taking on Maritime (N.Y.), unable to complete the comeback, falling with a final score of 24-21.
The first half, Coast Guard struggled to gather its rhythm. Maritime struck first with just over eight minutes to play in quarter one. Four and a half minutes later, CGA answered with a touchdown of their own.
Harrison Hensley rushed for 15 yards to tie up the game at seven.
With 24 seconds remaining in the first 15 minutes, the Bears found themselves down again as the Privateers went up, 14-7.
The two scores of the second quarter were by Maritime when they scored a TD and a field goal. Heading into the break, Coast was trailing, 21-7.
The second half was a complete turnaround for CGA. The Bears cut it down to 10 when
Joey Armentrout completed a nine yard pass to Hensley. After the defense forced a three-and-out, CGA got the ball back. In its second consecutive drive, Coast Guard scored. Hensley caught a 15-yard pass from
Ezra Tetreault, followed by a made extra point by
Brennan Holt. With two and a half minutes left in the third, the Bears had cut deep into the Privateers lead, trailing 24-21.
On the defensive side, the Bears held the Privateers to zero points for the entirety of the second half.
In the fourth quarter, with just three seconds to go, CGA had a chance to tie it up and force the game into OT. From 36-yards out, Holt missed the field goal, resulting in the game ending at 24-21.
Armentrout ended the day 25/41, with 250 YDS and one touchdown. Hensley led in rushing with 21 Carries, 105 yards and one TD. He also led in receiving with 7 receptions for 53 yards and 2 TDs.
Coast Guard will go on the road this weekend to face WPI in their final road game of the regular season.
