NEWPORT, R.I. - Football took on conference newbie, Salve Regina, this past weekend, falling with a final score of 38-7.
It was a slow start for the Bears as they struggled to find the end zone while keeping the Seahawks from putting up points.Â
In the first quarter, CGA did manage to hold SRU to just seven points. However, Coast Guard wasn't able to keep up the defensive stops as Salve Regina scored 17 in the second quarter. As halftime approached, CGA found themselves down, 24-0.
Coming out of the break, Coast Guard was unable to find its rhythm and allowed another 14 points by Salve.
The offensive struggles only let up for one scoring drive for the Bears, which came in the fourth quarter.
Harrison Hensley had a one-yard rushing touchdown to avoid a shutout for the Bears. It wouldn't be enough as, ultimately, CGA fell to SRU.
Joey Armentrout had 16 completions for 145 yards for the Bears. Hensley led CGA in rushing with 19 carries and 79 yards.
James Patz led in receiving with five catches for 60 yards.
Coast Guard will have a bye this week, before hosting Norwich on October 21st at 1:30 PM.
