Box Score 2 MANSFIELD, Conn. – Eastern Connecticut, ranked fourth nationally, ran its win streak to 14 straight beating Coast Guard 6-0 and 5-2.
Eastern Connecticut improves to 30-4 while the Bears drop to 16-12 on the season.
Coast Guard is back in action on Friday against Wheaton in the final home games of the season, a doubleheader at 3:00.
GAME ONE – EASTERN CONNECTICUT 6, COAST GUARD 0
Morgan Bolduk and Carley Stoker combined on a two-hit shutout leading the Warriors to a 6-0 win.
Eastern got all it would need in the first when they scored four times as Carley Stoker's two-run homer highlighted the inning.
Brooke Matyasovsky hit a two-run home run in the fifth to close the scoring.
Christine Carey and Isabelle Shroyer each singled for Coast Guard.
Shroyer (6-8) went the distance and took the loss for the Bears.
GAME TWO – EASTERN CONNECTICUT 5, COAST GUARD 2
Eastern Connecticut scored three runs in the fourth and completed the sweep with the 5-2 win.
The Warriors scored once in the first before the Bears pulled even in the second on a sacrifice fly by Shroyer.
Matyasovsky hit her second homer of the afternoon, a solo shot in the third as the Warriors took a 2-1 lead.
ECSU added three runs in the fourth to extend the lead to 5-1.
The Bears would get one back in the fifth on an RBI single by Mariah Dewey.
Katie Becker had two hits including a double to lead Coast Guard.
Amanda Moore (10-4) took the loss for Coast Guard.
