WORCESTER, Mass.-- Coast Guard tennis opened New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action with a 9-0 road victory at Clark. The Bears are now 5-2 on the season and 1-0 in NEWMAC play.
In doubles action, Banks Evans and Paul Choi defeated Aidan Hurtado and Ryan Hovey, 8-4. At #2 doubles, Lucas Arora and Charles Norman beat Tanner Honnef and Sam Pomann, 8-4. Myles Decoste and Sean Dreher gave Coast Guard a 3-0 lead as they took down Dariy Vykhodtsev and Christian Ruebens, 8-6 to wrap up doubles play.
In singles action, at #4 Arora beat Pomann 6-0 and 6-1. At #5, Choi defeated Hurtado 6-0 and 6-1. Logan De Los Santos beat Adrian Ramirez 6-2 and 6-0 at #6, giving Coast Guard a 6-0 lead.
Dreher won at #3 against Hovey, 6-1 and 6-1. Norman beat Honnef 6-3 and 6-0 at #2, and Decoste wrapped up singles at #1 with two wins over Vykhodtsev, 6-2 and 7-5, giving the Bears the 9-0 final.
The Bears are back in action on Monday, April 5, on the road at Nichols at 4 PM.
