NEW LONDON, Conn. – Coast Guard dropped just one set on the afternoon in cruising past archrival Merchant Marine 9-0 in the season opener for both teams.
The win now gives Coast Guard an early 3-0 lead over Merchant Marine in the 2021-22 Superintendent's Trophy race.
Myles Decoste did not drop a set all day as he won his #2 singles match 6-0, 6-0 and teamed with Sean Dreher to win #1 singles 8-0.
Banks Evans (#1), Dreher (#3), Lucas Arora (#4), Paul Choi (#5) and James Vuille-Kowing (#6) also picked up singles wins for the Bears.
Arora and Charles Norman won at #2 doubles while Evans and Choi picked up the point at #3 doubles for Coast Guard.
Coast Guard is back in action next weekend at the ITA Championship at Bowdoin.
