Bears Win Regular Season Finale

NEW LONDON, Conn. –  Coast Guard blanked Clark 9-0 in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match, the final match of the regular season, played indoors due to rain.

Coast Guard improves to 7-8 overall and 4-2 in the NEWMAC and the Bears will be the third seed in the conference tournament and take on second-seeded Babson on May 6th at MIT.

Jack Phillips, Ben Errington and Arthur Wicke won in straight sets at 4,5 and 6 singles for the Bears.

John Hu dropped the first set 7-5 before winning 6-4, 6-1 at #1 singles, Mike Melampy won 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 at #2 singles while Adam Bahney was a 3-6, 6-2, 7-5 winner at #3 singles for the Bears.

In doubles action, Melampy and Hu won 8-6 at #1 doubles, Errington and Bahney were 9-8 (7-2) winners at #2 doubles while Phillips and Wicke recorded an 8-1 win at #3 doubles for Coast Guard.
