NEW LONDON, Conn. – Coast Guard swept Emerson 9-0 to secure a spot in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) tournament.

The Bears improve to 9-6 overall and 3-2 in the conference. Coast Guard can clinch the third seed and a bye in the first round with a win in the final regular season match at Clark on Wednesday.

Thomas Hackett won 6-0, 6-4 at #1 singles, Robert Renfrow dropped the first set 6-3 before winning 6-1, 10-6 at #2 singles. John Hu (#3) and Weston Fortna (#4) were both 6-1, 6-1 winners. Mike Melampy (#5) was a 6-1, 6-0 winner while Adrian Chau (#6) won 6-0, 6-2 in singles action.

Mark Guentert and Fortna posted an 8-3 win at #1 doubles, Benson Errington and Hackett won 8-0 at #2 doubles while Hu and Chau were 8-1 winners at # 3 doubles for the Bears.
