ONEONTA, N.Y. - Senior Maggie Hine earned a spot on the All-tournament team as Coast Guard finished off the Hartwick/Holiday Inn Invitational without dropping a set as they beat Morrisville State and Hartwick 3-0, 3-0 to win all four matches over the weekend.
The Bears finished off the weekend unblemished, winning 12 straight sets and improving to 12-5 on the season. The Mustangs drop to 8-12 while the Hawks fall to 7-15.
"I really liked how we played today and found different ways to win," said Coast Guard head coach Mike Bynon. "Our ball control was solid all weekend and allowed us to dictate matches offensively. I like where we are as a team and we will continue to get better every day."
Coast Guard dispatched of Morrisville State swiftly beating them 25-11, 25-16, and 25-20 as sophomore Summer Adams led the way with eight kills while senior Ashley Dumont had five kills and a match-high six blocks. Sophomore Michelle McGill led the way with 18 digs in the win. Hine led the Bears with 19 assists.
The Bears were able to dismiss host Hartwick 25-22, 25-23, and 25-23 as Dumont led the way with a match-high 14 kills and Hine had a match-high 33 assists. McGill led the Bears with 15 digs while sophomore Michelle Hernandez finished with 14 in the win.
The Bears return to action on Tuesday, October 6th when they host Mount Holyoke in NEWMAC action. Match begins at 7:00 pm in Roland Gymnasium.
