Bears Roll Past Johnson & Wales 8-1

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Coast Guard won five of six singles matches and swept the doubles as the Bears beat Johnson & Wales 8-1 in a non-conference match played indoors.

Mark Guentert won #1 singles 6-2, 6-1, Robert Renfrow won at #2 singles 6-0, 6-1, Weston Fortna won #3 singles, 6-2, 6-0, Jon Lightner picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win at #4 singles while Alex Mead was a 8-0 winner at #5 singles.

The Bears #1 doubles team of Guentert and Fortna won 8-4, the #2 doubles team of Renfrow and Mead won 8-0 while the #3 doubles team of Lighter and Bruce Kim also won 8-0.

Coast Guard improves to 2-4 on the season and the Bears are back in action on Thursday when they host rival Conn. College indoors at 3:30 p.m.
