CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) power MIT, ranked 20th nationally, beat Coast Guard 8-1 in conference action.
The Engineers swept the six singles matches. Freshman Weston Fortna (#4 singles) and sophomore Jon Lightner (#6 singles) fell in three sets, while MIT won the other four singles matches in straight sets.
Freshman Robert Renfrow and senior Blake Maurer accounted for the Bears only point of the match with an 8-6 win at #2 doubles.
MIT improves to 14-1 overall and 4-0 in the NEWMAC while Coast Guard drops to 3-9 overall and 1-3 in conference.
The Bears are back in action on Tuesday at Conn. College at 3:30 p.m.
