WALTHAM, Mass. -- The Coast Guard men's tennis team fell by a 9-0 margin to host Brandeis University today in Waltham, Mass. With the defeat the Bears fall to 1-5 on the year while the Judges improve to 4-6.
In the closest doubles match of the game freshmen Mark Guentert and Weston Fortna hung tight in second doubles before ultimately fall 8-5.
There were a pair of close matches on the single's side as well, as Guentert (2-6, 3-6) and Fortna (3-6, 2-6) fell in third and fourth singles, respectively.
In number one singles, senior Blake Maurer fell 6-1 in the second set after holding tight at 6-3 in the first.
Coast Guard returns to action on Sunday, March 24th, with a home tilt against Stevens Institute of Technology at noon.
