KINGS POINT, N.Y.--(4/16/12)---Coast Guard went back on the road to Kings Point, NY to play the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in a regional non-conference contest. The Bears had too much fire power for the Mariners; they won the dual match 9-0.

The closest doubles match came at #3 with juniors Joe Sullivan-Springhetti and Erik Oredson pairing to win over freshmen Mo Kawatachi and Derek Acuno, 9-7.

It was Sullivan-Springhetti and Oredson again in the closest singles matches. Sullivan-Springhetti won at #5 over Kawatachi, 6-4, 7-6(2). Oredson was the winner at #6 over Acuno, 4-6, 7-6(6), 10-8.

Coast Guard, which improves to 9-3 overall, was able to rest its senior captains Nick Martin and Greg Mitchell as a busy week continues with a match across the street at rival Conn. College on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
