Coach Porter enters her fifth season as Head Softball Coach at the Coast Guard Academy.

Porter's first official year at the helm of the Bears was 2022, having served as the Interim Head Softball Coach during the 2021 season following the retirement of Coach Donna Koczajowski, for whom Porter was an Assistant Coach from 2018 to 2020.

The Bears have compiled a 69-57 record in Coach Porter's four seasons leading the team. In that time, the softball program has produced three All-Region players, three First Team All-NEWMAC players, six Second Team All-NEWMAC players, and a NEWMAC Rookie of the Year.

Many of those picks were from the Bears' 2023 season, in which they compiled a 31-11 record. Outfielder Christine Carey was a Second Team selection for both All-Region and All-NEWMAC; while pitcher Dana Walker was Third Team All-Region, First Team All-NEWMAC, and NEWMAC Rookie of the Year. The Bears saw three other players tabbed for Second Team All-NEWMAC that season.

Before her career at Coast Guard, Porter built her coaching resume at Fitch High School in nearby Groton. Initially an assistant coach, Porter was elevated to Interim Head Coach for the 2024 season and proceeded to lead the Falcons to a 26-1 record and a Class L state championship, leading to her being tabbed as New Haven Register Coach of the Year.

After resuming her role as Assistant Coach for the 2015 season, Porter was once again the Falcons' Head Coach in 2016. That season, Fitch went 27-0 en route to ranking as the top team in the final state poll and fourth nationally, while Porter was named CIAC Coach of the Year. She would finish her high school coaching career with a 74-8 record, which included a 65-game regular season winning streak, alongside two state championships and three ECC championships.

Porter played softball at Eastern Connecticut State University, where she was a standout player for the Warriors. Porter was an NFCA First Team All-American and First Team All-Region selection in both 2012 and 2012, as well as the 2013 Little East Conference Player of the Year. By the end of her career, she was the Warriors' leader in career batting average (.406), slugging (.739), hits (221), home runs (40), and total bases (403), earning her induction into the ECSU Athletics Alumni Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2023. Porter graduated from ECSU in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Sports & Leisure Management with a focus in Health Promotion; she then earned her Masters in Applied Behavior Analysis from Western Connecticut State University in 2017.
