Pat returned to the Academy with the Bears men's lacrosse program in the 2020 season.

Originally from Glens Falls, NY, Lieutenant Powers graduated from the Coast Guard Academy in 2008 with a degree in Management. Pat joined the coaching staff as a defensive assistant in 2013.

As a player for the Academy, Pat was one of the most decorated players in the 30 year history of Bears Lacrosse. In addition to being named team captain for his final two campaigns in New London, his 2008 honors included Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) Division 2 All-American – Second Team, Pioneer Collegiate Lacrosse League (PCLL) Division 2 All-Conference – First Team and PCLL Division 2 Defensive Player of the Year.

Before returning to the Academy, Pat served five years at sea on board three different Coast Guard cutters.  He has conducted a multitude of missions ranging from counter-drug operations to alien migrant interdiction to search and rescue to maritime security.  He has deployed to the North Atlantic, Caribbean, Arabian Gulf, Eastern Pacific, Western Pacific and South China Sea.
