Derik is in his fourth season as the Roger O. Walther (Class of ’58) assistant football coach. He will coach the quarterbacks.

He is a 2016 graduate of Robert Morris University with a BA in Communications and spent time as a graduate assistant, offensive quality control coach, and assistant quarterback coach at Lindenwood University in 2018. He was the co-offensive coordinator at Olympia High School in Orlando for six months before arriving at the Academy.

Abbott was a member of the 2017 team at Lindenwood. Prior to Lindenwood, he played at Robert Morris University from 2012-15. He threw multiple touchdown passes in each of his first three starts as a junior in 2014. Abbott compiled the second-highest completion percentage in a single-season in Robert Morris program history (57.1 percent).

Derik was the quarterbacks coach at Boone High School in Orlando in 2016.
