McAllister late surge lifts Bears past Salve in regular season finale

NEWPORT, R.I. –

In the final game of the regular season, Coast Guard women's lacrosse survived a scare from Salve Regina on the road with a 14-10 final. Salve Regina concludes their regular season with an 8-8 record, 4-6 NEWMAC. For the Bears, they finish the 2026 regular season at 12-2 (9-1 NEWMAC). The 12-2 record is the best regular season record in program history.

Salve Regina took control early. After Isabella Judge (Buffalo, NY) found Taylor Thorne (Edgewater, MD) for the first goal of the day, sophomore attacker Madison Maire scored four unanswered goals for the Seahawks to send the game into the second quarter at 4-1 in favor of Salve.

In the second quarter, Salve Regina stayed hot, extending their lead to four with a 7-3 to lead at the halftime break.

Coast Guard started to make their move in the third, scoring three times to lower their deficit to three at 9-6. Abby McAllister (Pleasantville, NY) had a hand in all three, scoring twice and assisting on the third to Elizabeth Pearcy (Philadelphia, PA), who scored twice tonight.

In the final quarter, with the team on the verge of falling, Abby McAllister, the senior captain and top points per game player in the nation, put the team on her back. McAllister ripped off five goals including three unanswered to put the game away. Rileigh Leary (Holden, MA) assisted on two and scored another in the quarter as well.

McAllister finished the day with a game-high nine points. On defense, Ella Campbell (Foxborough, MA) caused two turnovers and came away with a draw control and ground ball. Kailee Heron (West Islip, NY) made 12 saves en route to her 12th win of the year.

On Saturday at 12:00 PM, #2 Coast Guard will host #7 Salve Regina in a NEWMAC tournament first round rematch of tonight's game.
