NEW LONDON, Conn. –
The Bears started off the game down big, trailing 0-6 late in the first before a
Patrick Smith (Leesburg, VA) goal assisted by
Eric Key (Clarksville, MD) finally stopped the bleeding. That Smith goal gave the Bears momentum into the second period. In the second,
Eric Key and
Noah Heller (Baltimore, MD) each scored while the Bears defense held the Charger offense to zero in a standout effort to send the game to half with Coast Guard down just three.
Out of the half, Union came out on fire. They scored eight goals in the third to take a commanding lead into the 4th and cruise to victory. For Union, the win improves them to 3-9 on the year. They will host Liberty League foe Ithaca College on Saturday April 4th at 12:00 PM.
Ezekiel Christian (Stonington, CT) was the Bears leader in goals with two while
Eric Key led in points with two assists and a goal.
Jamison Wildt (Arnold, MD) was the team leader in caused turnovers with two.
In goal,
Dustin Miller (Tyler, TX) gave a gutsy effort, making 15 saves in a game in which the Bears were outshot 53-22. Miller was also the team leader in ground balls with five.
CGA falls to 3-6 with the loss. They will travel to #6 Babson College on Saturday April 4th at 1:00 PM. The Beavers today defeated UMass Boston by a score of 18-5.
