NEW LONDON, Conn. —
Luke Farrell (Ortley Beach, N.J.) of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy men's basketball team and
Dorothy Stotts (Edina, Minn.) of the women's basketball team have been named the CoastGuardAthletics.com Athletes of the Week, presented by First Command, for their performances during the week ending on Sunday, January 6th.
Farrell showed out in a pair of losses at the SpringHill Suites Guilford Holiday Classic. The senior forward put up a team-leading 17 points in the team's opening match-up versus tournament hosts Guilford College alongside seven rebounds, a block, and a steal. Farrell then posted an 18-point, 10-rebound double-double with two blocks against Skidmore College in the Consolation Game.
Stotts was the leading scorer in both wins for women's hoops during their winter break trip to Pennsylvania. The senior had 20 points and a pair of steals against Albright College and wreaked havoc on Marywood University just two days later with a career-high 33 points. She went 7-for-12 on three-pointers and was also good for nine rebounds and five assists.
Farrell and men's basketball will host a pair of New England Men's and Women's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) contests in the upcoming week, taking on Wheaton College (Mass.) tomorrow, January 7th, and Babson College on Saturday, January 12th. Stotts and women's basketball will also play at home on Saturday, taking on the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
