MARLBOROUGH, Mass. —
The U.S. Coast Guard Academy was represented by two cadet-athletes in the latest round of NEWMAC Athletes of the Week, with football's
Matt LaBouliere (Pipersville, Pa.) and men's soccer's
Samuel Linkous (Gulf Breeze, Fla.) earning recognition for their performances over the past seven days.
LaBouliere was named Offensive Athlete of the Week for his career day in the air at Worcester Polytechnic Institute on Saturday. The junior made eight receptions for 119 yard, averaging 14 yards per catch. Four of those catches came in the end zone, setting a new program single-game record for touchdown receptions and leading football to a 49-21 conference opener victory.
Linkous was named Defensive Athlete of the Week after helping men's soccer two a 2-0 week, including the team's first NEWMAC win in 2025. The junior stopped three shots in last Tuesday's 3-1 win over Rhode Island College and turned another three-save performance in Saturday's 1-0 triumph against the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which included a clutch stop in the final five minutes.
LaBouliere and the Bears football team are away again this weekend, traveling to SUNY Maritime College (2-2, 0-1) for a 1 p.m. game, while Linkous and the men's soccer team travel to Western New England University (3-6) on Tuesday at 4 p.m. and WPI (3-2-3, 0-0-1) on Saturday at 2 p.m.
