KANSAS CITY, Mo. —

The Coast Guard Academy women's soccer team was announced Friday, August 1, as a winner of the United Soccer Coaches (USC) Team Academic Award.

To qualify for the honor, teams must post a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Coast Guard's 3.40 GPA made them one of 425 women's teams to earn the award.

The Bears were joined on the list by eight of their ten New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) counterparts: Clark University (3.74), Emerson College (3.87), MIT (3.65), Salve Regina (3.58), Smith College (3.68), Wellesley College (3.80), Wheaton College (3.62), and WPI (3.74).
