Bears fall to cross-street foe Conn College

NEW LONDON, Conn. –

Conn College scored a goal on their first possession of the game and despite numerous comeback efforts by Coast Guard, Conn maintained the lead for the entire game. With the victory, Conn moves to 1-1 on the season. They will next host #7 Colby College Saturday March 8th at 12:00 PM.

In their valiant effort, Coast Guard was paced on offense by two of their senior leaders: Caitlyn Coates(Hanover, PA) and Kira Howard(Wilton, CT). Coates led the squad in points(5) and goalsd(4) while Howard led in assists with two while also scoring two goals of her own. In the 2nd quarter, freshman Reagan Parker(Annapolis, MD) scored her first career collegiate goal, finding the back of the net on a goal assisted by Coates. Also scoring for Coast Guard was senior Katherine Rott(Severna Park, MD) who scored a goal in the 3rd quarter. 

Bears goalkeeper Maici Mintchwarner(Cream Ridge, NJ) led CGA in ground balls, picking up three. Hannah Warnke(Lincoln, NE) and Riley Mullen(Williamsburg, VA) each had two caused turnovers to pace the Bears. 

The loss is Coast Guard's first of the year with the Bears now 2-1 on their 2025 campaign.

With spring break next week, Coast Guard will have 10 days before their next game. They will play their first NEWMAC game of the year on March 15th on the road at #14 Babson at 1:00 PM
