Twiss National Champ, Lyman and Reice earn All-American at day 2 of D3 National Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. –

In day two of the Division III Swim and Dive National Championships, the Bears earned some hardware. In the marquee race of the night, senior Colin Twiss(Mahwah, NJ) brought home the national championship in the 200 Freestyle, a race in which he led wire to wire. His time of 1:35.68 is both an Academy and NEWMAC record. Twiss is just the 4th man in CGA history to win a national championship and the first in 11 years(Christian Brindamour).

"We are all proud of Colin achieving his goal of winning the 200 free in his final year. His effort, focus and dedication has left an indelible mark on his teammates and the program." said head coach John Westkott. "He and Sean are foundational cadet-athletes and have represented the Academy well."

Twiss's fellow senior captain Sean Lyman(Pennsburg, PA) too had a banner day, finishing 3rd in the 400 IM with a time of 3:51.31. This is Lyman's second consecutive year on the podium as an All-American. His preliminary time of 3:50.29 sets a new Coast Guard record in the event. When it is all said and done, Lyman and Twiss will go down as two of the most decorated teammates in Academy history.

Earning honors along with the veterans Lyman and Twiss was sophomore sensation Noah Reice(Wilmington, DE). Reice earned All-American Honorable Mention with an 11th overall finish in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 48.02.
