MARLBOROUGH, Mass. — 

Noah Reice (Wilmington, Del.) of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy men's swimming & diving team and Laila Baameur (Bakersfield, Calif.) of the volleyball team have been named in the most recent round of New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Athlete of the Week honorees for the week ending November 9th.

Reice was named Swimmer of the Week after he won two individual races and was part of a relay win to help men's swim & dive to a pair of dual victories over Springfield College and Wheaton College on Saturday. The junior was the first to touch the wall in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.44, while his 100 free time of 47.13 delivered his second individual win of the day. Reice also anchored the 400-yard medley relay team which put forth a time of 3:28.43 to be the fastest in their field.

Baameur was named Defensive Athlete of the Week after she totaled 50 digs and averaged 6.25 digs per set across two NEWMAC wins for the volleyball team. The senior posted 20 in a straight sets win over Mount Holyoke College on Tuesday and 30 in a thrilling five-set Senior Day victory over Emerson College on Saturday; she committed just one reception error between the two matches. It's the fifth Defensive Athlete of the Week selection for Baameur, who leads the NEWMAC in in digs per set (6.09) and total digs (493) heading into the conference tournament. The Bears lead the league in digs per set as a team (17.36), which has been supplemented by Baameur ranking fourth in the nation in that stat individually.

Reice and the men's swim & dive team have the upcoming weekend off, but they'll be returning to the water on November 22nd at Brandeis University. Baameur and volleyball kick off postseason play on Tuesday, November 11th, with a first round match-up in the NEWMAC Tournament at Smith College.
