Bears Can’t Overcome the Beavers

NEW LONDON, Conn. - This afternoon, Coast Guard Women's Volleyball fell to Babson College by a score of 3 sets to 0.

With this loss, the Bears move to 10-6 on the season while Babson moves to 11-1. Up next for the Beavers is a trip across Massachusetts to Wellesley, where they will take on the Blue this coming Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.

The first set was an absolute battle with ten ties and a lead change throughout the duration of the set. One of those ties was at 24-24, however Babson was able to take the final two points and the Bears lost set one, 26-24.

Set two was another close one, with the Bears holding a lead three times throughout the set. Unfortunately, the Beavers were eventually able to create some separation, taking set two by a score of 25-21.

The third set wasn't quite as close as the first two, but as usual, the Bears hung tough. They tied the score five different times during the set, however the Beavers did pull away to win set three, 25-21.

For Coast Guard, freshman pin Amelia Matson led the team with 10 kills, while senior libero Kaela France finished with a team-high 18 digs. Additionally, sophomore setter Sophia Rosenberg accounted for 30 of the team's 37 assists.

The Bears are back in action this coming Tuesday when they will take Wheaton College in their home gym at 6:00 p.m.
