Box Score 2 WELLESLEY, Mass. – Coast Guard softball split a pair of extra inning NEWMAC games vs Wellesley. With the split, the Wellesley Blue move to 12-12 Overall (5-5 NEWMAC).
The game one hero for the Bears was Catcher
Lillia Farlow. Down to their final out, the senior from Carrollton, Texas tied the game in the 7th with a two out solo home run.
In the top of the eighth, freshman
Abriana Schmutz brought home a pair of runs with a single up the middle. Schmutz later crossed the plate on a throwing error. The Bears would hold on to win in the bottom of the 8th. Schmutz and
Natalie Beck each had two hits in the Bears victory.
Isabelle Shroyer threw all eight innings with four strikeouts for Coast Guard. None of her four runs allowed were earned.
In game two, CGA was unable to get their bats going, scoring just one run. Their lone run came on a single by
Julia Breidenthal to score

In the 7th, with the score tied at 1-1, Wellesley appeared to have walked off the Bears but
Christine Carey threw the winning run out at home plate. However, after going scoreless in the top of the 8th, the Bears ultimately surrendered a walk-off.
Despite recording the loss,
Dana Walker was stellar on the mound. The sophomore from Macon, Georgia pitched the full game for the Bears allowing just one earned run.
With the split, Coast Guard moves to 7-11 (6-2 NEWMAC). They will next face Wesleyan University in a non conference road double header on Tuesday April 16th. First pitch is scheduled for 3 PM.
