Coast Guard baseball dropped a non conference game to the US Merchant Marine Academy. With the victory, USMMA improves to 7-8 on the season. Coast Guard falls to 7-5 on the year with the loss.
Merchant Marine starter Tyler Reistetter shut down the Bears, throwing eight innings allowing just two runs. CGA only totaled six hits on the day.
The Bears offense went scoreless early on in the game and trailed 0-4 after five. In the 6th, the offense broke through.

Parker Madden followed with a double. Sophomore shortstop Rick Barkley drove them both in with a two RBI single to cut the lead in half. Following this, CGA was unable to keep the rally going and went down 1-2-3 in each of the next two innings. In the 9th, Coast Guard had the tying run at the plate but were unable to capitalize. They scored just one run when
Kael Godshalk came home on a wild pitch.
The Bears stayed within reach of the lead thanks to stellar pitching in relief from freshman
Vito Giordano. Giordano threw five innings, allowing just two hits and striking out eight.
Coast Guard gets right back in action tomorrow afternoon at home vs Albertus Magnus at 3:30.
