Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Flo. - Softball continued its Spring Break trip in Florida, dropping both games on day two after falling to Juniata in game one and going down against Lake Forest in game two.
The day kicked off with an early morning loss to Juniata with a final of 3-0.
The Bears started of the game with a walk, single and dual steals that put runners in scoring position. Despite the opening opportunity, CGA wasn't able to capitalize. The second chance for the Bears came in the top of the third. CGA was able to load the bases, but a flyout to right field shut CGA down.
The Bears held off the Eagles through the first two innings before Juniata got all three of its runs.Coast Guard struggled to get something going, ultimately dropping game one.
Dana Walker had three strikeouts in the circle for the Bears.
Game two was Coast Guard's closest battle thus far in the trip, despite falling to Lake Forest in a 5-3 game.
The Foresters jumped on top first with a one-run opening inning. The Bears quickly answered back in the home half off a single by
Isabelle Shroyer that brought home
Natalie Beck. Later in the inning,
Christine Carey making contact, plus an error by Lake Forest's second baseman, brought home two more runs for CGA and put them up, 3-1.
Into the top of the second, the Foresters rallied to go up 4-3. Both teams were quiet until the seventh inning, when Lake Forest added two more.
Coast Guard will have an off day tomorrow, before taking on Bowdoin and Farmingdale State on March 13th
