Box Score CLERMONT, Flo. - Bears Softball took on Case Western Reserve in the second game of the day, falling to the Spartans with a final score of 10-2.
CWRU jumped ahead, 1-0, after scoring in the bottom half of the first. The top of the second saw two hits for the Bears, singles by both
Isabelle Shroyer and
Julia Breidenthal, but no runs were able to cross the plate. In the home half of the inning, Case Western doubled its lead to go up 2-0.Â
Neither team scored in the third, but the Spartans began to pull away in the bottom of the fourth as five runs crossed the plate, making the score 7-0.Â
The top of the fifth saw Coast Guards first run of the day.
Christine Carey tripled to center to bring home
Veronica Krystofik, avoiding a shutout. CGA kept CWRU from answering back in the home half of the inning.
Coast Guard cut a little more into the lead after
Natalie Beck advanced to second on a sacrifice fly by
Bridget Bartz, advanced to third on a a wild pitch and was brought home by a single from
Lillia Farlow. The score was 7-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth.Â
Case Western got the run back and added two, ending the game in six.Â
Carey and Farlow each had an RBI and one hit.Â
Coast Guard will take on Juniata at 9 AM and Lake Forest at 11:15 AM on March 11th.
