NEW LONDON, Conn. – In another commanding display of offensive firepower, the Bears racked up an impressive 101 points, marking their third triple-digit scoring game of the season. Their sharp and consistent execution allowed them to dominate all night and extend their win streak.
The first quarter was a tightly contested, high-scoring affair. Senior
Kelly Hagerty opened the scoring with a layup, followed by a three-pointer from junior
Dorothy Stotts. However, the Falcons quickly responded, tying the game at 5 and setting the stage for a very back and forth quarter that ended with the Bears leading 26-23.
The second quarter mirrored the first, with multiple ties and lead changes. Four minutes in, the Falcons briefly took a one-point lead with a three-pointer. However, the Bears answered decisively, going on a 7-0 run powered by Stotts' elite scoring. Despite the Falcons' persistence, the Bears held a slim two-point lead at halftime.
Determined to pull away, the Bears dominated the third quarter. Although the score stayed tight in the early minutes, an explosive 23-13 run in the final eight minutes gave the Bears a comfortable 13-point cushion heading into the fourth. Senior
Glory Blethen was instrumental in that surge.
In the game's final quarter, the Bears didn't dominate but they maintained control. Each time the Falcons threatened, Stotts delivered key baskets to keep them at bay. With that, the Bears secured their eighth straight win, improving to an impressive 9-1 on the season.
Stotts led the charge with a stellar 29 points on just 18 shots, along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Blethen contributed a near triple-double with 24 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists, while junior
Taylor Lynch added 19 points.
The Bears now head into the holiday break and will return to action on December 30th, when they will host Baruch at 2:00 p.m.
