Men’s Soccer Overpowered by #11 Babson in Season Finale

NEW LONDON, Conn. - In a road matchup against 11th-ranked Babson, the Bears struggled to find momentum on both ends of the field, ultimately falling to the Beavers 6-0.

With this defeat, the Bears conclude the regular season with a record of 11-5-2, while the Beavers finish at 12-1-6. Both teams are now awaiting their seeding and matchups for the opening round of the NEWMAC Tournament.

The first half opened with intense offensive pressure from the Beavers. In the 10th minute, they launched a shot aimed at the bottom right corner, but junior goalie John Putnam made a fantastic save to keep the score level at 0-0.

Unfortunately, just eight minutes later, Babson found the back of the net for their first goal, followed by a second and third just five and seven minutes later, respectively. Due to this stellar offensive performance from the Beavers, the Bears went into halftime trailing 3-0.

The second half offered little improvement for the Bears, as the Beavers added three more goals while Coast Guard was unable to convert on a couple of good opportunities. Therefore, the match concluded with a final score of 6-0 in favor of Babson.

While this wasn't necessarily the season finale the Bears had hoped for, they still have the entire postseason ahead of them. Next up is the the opening round of the NEWMAC Tournament, with game details yet to be determined.
