BOSTON, Mass. --
The Women's Rowing Team took to the Charles River in Boston this weekend to compete in the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta. Coast Guard fielded three boats across two events over the weekend.Â
On Saturday, the Bears raced in the Women's Club 8 event with their 3rd Varsity 8 crew. Competing against many Division 1 and Club programs, Coast Guard was able to come away with a 35th place finish in a time of 19:17.5. Yale won the event, with Radcliffe and Princeton finishing out the podium.Â
On Sunday the Bears continued the great performances in the Women's Collegiate 8 event. Starting at bow number 7, the 1st Varsity 8 from Coast Guard was able to put forth a great race and finish 6th overall in a time of 17:36.2, besting NEWMAC foe Wellesley by 1.5 seconds. Their 6th place finish put them as the highest finishing NEWMAC crew in the event. Also competing in the race was the Coast Guard 2nd Varsity 8 who finished 24th overall with a time of 18:37.6. Tufts won the event with Wesleyan and Williams following in 2nd and 3rd.Â
The Bears close out their fall season this weekend at the Wormtown Chase in Worcester, MA.Â
