NEW LONDON, Conn. - Tonight the Coast Guard Bears hosted the Trinity College Bantams in a non-conference matchup, falling 1-0.
In the first half, both teams were battling, getting many shots off. The Bantams got off six shots in the first and the Bears got off four.
Emily Scharnitzky had four saves for Coast Guard and Mariana Cournoyer had three saves in the first half for Trinity.
Immediately in the start of the second half, The Bantams shot on goal twice and Scharnitzky saved both. Then at 4:48 into the second half, Bella Nash scored for the Bantams and was assisted by Caroline Howell to give Trinity a 1-0 lead.
The Bears were not able to find the back of the net and would ultimately fall to the Bantams 1-0. CGA was out shot 9-3.
Scharnitzky recorded nine saves on the night. CGA is back on their home field this Friday at 3 PM against Emerson.
