NEW LONDON, Conn. –Today, Bears Softball continued New England Women and Men's Conference (NEWMAC) play against Springfield College, taking game one 4-1, and just fell 7-6, in game two.

Bears jumped on the board first from a Julia Breidenthal RBI. Then, Mariah Dewey got up and hit a two-run bomb to give CGA a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third.

The Pride would score two in the top of the fifth, but it would not be enough to top the Bears.

Dewey would bat in one more run for CGA for a 4-2 win in game one.

Isabelle Shroyer had six strikeouts in the circle for CGA.

In game two, Dewey got up and hit a solo-homer, her second on the day.

Shroyer hit in one more for CGA in the bottom of the first for a 2-0 Bears lead.

A few Coast Guard errors led to Springfield scoring three in the top of the third for a 3-2 score heading into the bottom of the inning.

Lilia Farlow started a two out rally in the bottom of the third, hitting a solo-bomb to tie it up 3-3.

Callie Gendron for the Pride, hit a three-run homer for the Pride to take a 6-3 lead in the top of the fifth.

Springfield added one more, but the Bears answered back in the bottom of the sixth. Dewey got up with two outs and hit her third homerun of the day. Bears clawed their way back to just be down one to start the seventh.

CGA could not get it done in the final inning and would just fall 7-6 in game two.

Dewey would have a day at the plate with two homers in game two, and  total of three on the day.

The Bears had ten hits in game two, which was more than the Pride, but unfortunately, CGA just left more people on base.

Bears Softball is back in action tomorrow at 12 and 2 PM as they face Wellesley on Senior Day.
