Box Score 2 WORCESTER, Mass. - Softball continued its hot streak, taking two wins over Clark, making it six wins in a row.
The Bears set the tone for the day in the very first inning of the first game. Eight runs crossed the plate for CGA in the top half, starting with a double by Julia Breidenthal. Selena Serna brought in the next two runs with a double of her own. Lillia Farlow grounded out to short stop and recorded an RBI. Serna scored off an error, followed by a single by Bridget Bartz to make the game 5-0. A Christine Carey double and a Natalie Beck single brought in three more runs to give the Bears a 8-0 lead.
Another run was added in the top of the second when Mariah Dewey launched one for a solo homerun.
The top of the fourth saw the final run of the game as Farlow hit a sacrifice fly to bring the lead, and final score, to 10-0.
Isabelle Shroyer pitched a shutout, recording five strikeouts in game one. Serna led the Bears with three hits, followed by Carey, Beck and Dewey with two each.
Game two was also controlled by CGA.
In the top of the first, Breidenthal brought in the first run of the game again, this time with a single through the left side that brought in Carey.. Farlow then tripled to bring in two more runs.
CGA added to the lead in the top of the third with a single by Serna, making it 4-0.
In the fourth, an error and doubles by Dewey and Serna added four more runs.
Coast Guard did not let Clark on the board until the bottom of the fourth, and it would be the only run scored by the Cougars.
Dewey closed out the day in the top of the sixth with a double that added one more. The Bears took game two with a final score of 9-1.
Dana Walker only allowed the one run and recorded two strikeouts. The Bears recorded 11 hits in game two.
CGA now stands at 18-4 overall and 6-2 in conference.
Coast Guard will host Babson on April 15th in a doubleheader beginning at 12 PM.
