Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. - This evening, the Bears faced New England's Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) foe Salve Regina, drawing with them 2-2.
In the first half, Salve shot eight times with four shots on goal. The Bears shot seven times with five on goal. However, neither team could find the back of the net and the score remained 0-0 to start the second half.
At just under ten minutes into the second, a
Chase Merrick goal assisted by
Karagan Bulger gave the Bears a 1-0 lead.
Just a couple minutes later, Salve answered right back. Olivia Tacconi made a solo-goal to tie up the score, 1-1.
Tacconi would score again to give her team the lead with just under 27 minutes left in the game.
The Bears would keep attacking and another Merrick shot would get past Salve's keeper Rachel Sortz. The score would be tied up 2-2 with just over 13 minutes left to play.
With just a minute to play Marissa Perachi would shoot one last time for the Seahawks but the Bears would block it. The game would end 2-2.
Bears out shot the Seahawks seven to five in the second.
Emily Scharnitzky would have five saves on the night for Coast Guard.
CGA is back in action this Saturday, in their final regular season game of the year, against Wheaton at 3 PM.
