Box Score NEWPORT, R.I.-- Coast Guard women's soccer took down Salve Regina 3-0 on the road on Wednesday evening for their second win in a row. The Bears start the season 2-0, while the Seahawks drop to 1-2.
Renae Sanchez scored the first goal of the game in the 21st minute off a long free-kick that dropped right under the crossbar, giving Sanchez the first goal of her career.
In the 38th minute, Molly Huynh scored her first goal of the season, coming from a free-kick from Teal Wasson.
Chase Merrick gave Coast Guard a 3-0 in the 76th minute with a helper from Sidney Palinkas.
Sophomore goalkeeper Emily Scharnitzky made a career-high 12 saves in the shutout victory for the Bears.
Coast Guard is back in action this weekend at the Drew Tournament as they take on Drew on Saturday and Westfield State on Sunday.
